ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Goals

Homeowners Bob and Kathy came to Ascend with years of neglected turf, overgrown foundation plantings, and a backyard with no intentional design. Their vision: a yard that could host summer gatherings, keep up with an active household, and feel integrated with the home’s interior.

Over multiple planning sessions, our design team developed a phased plan covering drainage correction, full turf renovation, a naturalistic planting scheme, and a rear-yard entertainment space anchored by a custom bluestone patio and pergola.

Phase 1 · Jun – Jul 2024 · ✓ Completed

Site Planning & Initial Consultation

Full site survey, permitting, and grading plan finalization. French drain installed along north property line. Rear yard regraded and compacted. Sod removal across renovation zones.

Phase 2 · Aug – Oct 2024 · ✓ Completed

Site Preparation

Deep aeration and soil amendment with premium compost blend. Overseeding with Caldwell-approved tall fescue mix. Establishment watering program and first fall fertilization completed.

Phase 3 · Nov 2024 – Feb 2025 · ✓ Completed

Irrigation, Mulch, & Planting

Bluestone patio base preparation and stone installation underway. Seating walls 70% complete. Cedar pergola framed. Perennial border installation began; spring-flowering bulbs planted throughout.

Phase 4 · Mar – Apr 2025 · ✓ Completed

Final Results & Outdoor Lighting

Full irrigation system installation with smart zone controller. Drip line integration for all planting beds. Low-voltage pathway and accent lighting install. Patio 120V circuit final connection.
