Scope of Work:

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Goals

The Homeowner, Sheila, along with two adjoining neighbors, came to Ascend with a persistent drainage problem that had made their backyards nearly unusable. A consistently swampy area along the shared fence line — sitting at the base of a downhill slope — had left the ground so saturated it would physically sink underfoot. The issue wasn’t isolated to one yard; all three properties were affected by the same underlying problem.

Rather than treating each yard independently, Ascend coordinated with all three homeowners to develop a unified drainage solution that would correct the issue at its source. The plan called for a multi-basin catch system combined with a decorative rock drainage bed — resolving the functional problem while improving the look of all three properties in the process.

Service Timeline

Project Phases

Phase 1  ·  ✓ Completed

Site Assessment & Multi-Property Coordination

Full site evaluation of drainage flow patterns across all three adjoining properties. Root cause identified as groundwater accumulating along the shared fence line at the base of a downhill slope. Drainage plan developed and reviewed with all three homeowners. Scope, access, and sequencing coordinated across properties before work began.

Phase 2  ·  ✓ Completed

Excavation & Drainage System Installation

Targeted excavation along the saturated fence line zone across all three yards. Seven catch basins installed at key collection points to capture and redirect groundwater away from the problem area. Underground drainage lines run to move water efficiently off the slope.

Phase 3  · ✓ Completed

Decorative Rock Bed & landscape Installation

Decorative rock drainage bed installed to manage surface water flow while enhancing the appearance of the corridor. Landscape design elements added to integrate the drainage infrastructure naturally into each yard. Disturbed areas prepared for sod installation.

Phase 4  ·  ✓ Completed

Final Results & Sod Installation

ew sod laid across all restored turf areas throughout the three properties. Final grading and site cleanup completed. Standing water issue fully eliminated. All three homeowners confirmed the project improved both the usability and appearance of their yards — transforming a chronic problem area into a clean, functional, and attractive space.
